Me too. I have one particular memory of Reagan and that's his cancelling my father's govt contract with a month's notice that had a year left on it...driving my family into lower middle class (from upper) when I was 12 years old...teaching me far more about money and humiliation than I wanted to know at that age.

But I've come to have a grudging respect for how he handled the cold war.

Sometimes life just isn't fair!

I remember some of the cutbacks on those government contracts.

Duck,
You WISH that Reagan were a bit player. Whether you liked him or not is irrelevant--the man made lasting changes to the face of American politics and American society. In essence, Clinton used Reagan's ideas for reforming the welfare system; by that time, of course, Reagan had no idea that his reforms to the CA welfare system went national.
