AOW,

If you are able to attend, would you please report to the rest of us?

If I attend--and I plan to--I will certainly give a report here.

I'm so happy to see more and more of these sorts of meetings, forums, etc. sprouting up, and even happier to see the numbers of attendees at them.

I hate to take sides here, but Ducky has a point. During my visits to Haifa Israel I was astounded that they were charging sailors 20 shekels instead of the usual 10 they'd charge Israelis. Dispicable, but the people were friendly there, especially the women.

I wish I could go. :(

Listen, even if you can't go, you can donate to help out, even if it's just a little. It will help, and if this symposium succeeds, it may very well create demand for another one at a future date, and maybe in other locations.

Lasunsett, I share your problem - it's a hell of a commute!

I sent off my reservations this morning. If the symposium is canceled, Truth Forum can use the funds anyway.

Man I would love to go but it is cost prohibative for the wife and I to attend. Damn!

Now, if I hit the lottery like i have said I was going to do for the last umpteen years, I will be there. I will bring donations galore too. ;)

I hope the speeches or at least a digest, are made available for purchase on DVD, or even downloadable.
This would spread the word far and wide for people who would go, but can't make it.
It would also generate funds for the next one.
Hope someone connected reads this and is considering the possibilities.
It only need a mike and minidisk or decent Pod to do the audio record.

Wow, this sounds like it will be incredible! Hope you make it and we can read your reports!

It is great to know that the symposium will be recorded; I know a lot of people will be interested in buying them; it'll not only provide those of us who can't attend an opportunity to hear some of these phenomenal people speak, but it will help out the hosts with the financial situation (it's apparently been a bit tough).

We just wrapped up another Blue Revolution meeting here in Vancouver, Canada. It cost us each a cup of coffee. We sat for a number of hours chatting, meeting people, making new contacts, exchanging information and ideas. It's not cost-prohibitive, and it gives us and others the acute realisation that this is very possible for any one no matter who or where.

We're not Robert Spencers or Bat Ye'or, but we each of us know something and add to the mix. The very fact that we are willing to meet in public draws others to us and validates our concerns. We don't sit in silence when fools like the one above criticise. We speak in public. Others, desperate for truth and honesty, finally come out and say that they too agree that Islam is a violent and dangerous ideology and a menace to all concerned, including Muslims, and that they will no longer suffer in silence from fear of being bullied by whomever. The people are beginning to speak, and they are doing so in public, unafraid, unintimidated.

You can meet your friends and neighbours in public to discuss the very things you would otherwise have to pay for if you were able to go to a convention elsewhere. If you don't go and can't go, you can have your own convention in your own town with your friends and neighbours. Nothing stops you from doing so. We do it weekly. You can too.

Anyone who cares to can have a meeting with friends and community members, no need of anything so formal as a convention. We've now met for our eigth time, and we'll meet again next week.

We gather in public, we wear blue scarves to identify ourselves to those who don't know us by sight, and we convene. I love it. I hope that if we don't see you directly that you'll stop by and announce that you are meeting in your own hometown.

Dag.

Not exactly Dag's secret society. Such blue-scarf meetings are happening all over Europe, too.

Ah, Mr Ducky, the pose reminds me of my favourite Paul Mazursky film, Last Stop Greenwich Village:

A girl says to the giggalo, Christopher Walken,

"Underneath all that pose-- there's just more pose."

Come on, mate. Do yourself a favor and live an honest life. All your posturing as a cool guy must hurt your back at your age. Give over and write something honest. You might surprise yourself. You'd sure surprie me.

Ducky you are wrong - this is very important.

I don't feel shame at all - why should I feel shame for speaking the truth Ducky?

Does it scare you?

Dag,

"The very fact that we are willing to meet in public draws others to us and validates our concerns. . ."

This is the HUGE value of what you are doing - it encourages people to come out of the closet!

I know I've told the story a couple of times, but indulge me while I do it again: In ancient Rome, during the reign of Nero, someone suggested that all the slaves be compelled to wear identifying clothing. The measure did not pass, because one senator pointed out that the slaves outnumbered the free, and that could lead to problems. . .

Well, it could lead to problems for the Mussies, so let's go for it! SO delighted to hear that it's happening in Europe, too.

Dag, any chance of meeting, say, in Burlington some day, maybe this summer? But NOT to discuss the virtues of "knowledge," OK?

Monica,

You nailed it; the truth is as frightening for a Leftist as it is for a Muslim, and for the same reason. It exposes their fraud for all the world to see.

You may have noticed the heavy use of "ad hominems" inplace of logic - that would be because the arguments, such as they are, of collectivists of all kinds are logically invalid. Logic is simply not a tool available to them.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Additional, specific details about the conference are available here. The new details include the confirmed list of speakers and the topics to be discussed.

At 3/13/2006 6:37 PM, Blogger Always On Watch said...

Duck,
Instituting shari'a law wouldn't happen overnight. Intermediate steps would be required, and I believe those steps would be taken in the name of multiculturalism.

As to "frightening," Cubed is the one who used that word in the comment immediately proceeding yours. I believe that Cubed explained his/her interpretation of that word.

BTW, here is the list of topics for the symposium:

The mindset of Islamic terrorism from a reformed PLO terrorist

Al Qaeda’s plans for future attacks against

Americans on US soil including an “American Hiroshima”

“Dhimmitude” and the uniquely Islamic institution of jihad

Terrorist recruitment in the United States

A detailed look at the charges and trial of Florida Prof. and terror suspect Sami al Arian

An in-depth look at ties between the radical left and the enemies of the state.

Understanding the threat posed

Effective counter-terrorism

The threat posed to world peace and national security by the ideology of radical Islam

The West’s misidentification of the challenges faced from the global jihad

A critique of the government’s performance on its prosecution of the War on Terror

A first hand account of a slaughter committed against innocents.

Terrorist indoctrination on the campuses of US Universities

I'm going to attend the symposium and see for myself if the speakers are indeed Muslim-haters or rather people who have something important to say.

You may see me as a "hater." I'm not. Maybe a chronic worrier, though. Well, at least I'm not apathetic. I'm not saying that you are apathetic, Duck, but I know many people who are; I recognize that you might not be interested in the topics.

At 3/15/2006 10:11 PM, Blogger Grizzly Mama said...

Discussing Islam should not be allowed because it means one is a 'hater'? LOL! Oh! Not only a 'hater' but rampantly 'paranoid' as well.

Thanks Duck. You're a mess God bless ya.

Fein-gold...the gift that keeps on giving

"This is such a gift," the conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh told listeners on his syndicated radio program on Monday, saying the Democrats were fulfilling his predictions. "They have to go back to this impeachment thing," he said.

The Wall Street Journal's editorial board, a conservative standard-bearer, echoed the thought. "We'd like to congratulate the Wisconsin Democrat on his candor," its editors wrote Wednesday in a column headlined "The Impeachment Agenda." The Republican National Committee sent the editorial out to its e-mail list of 15 million supporters.

Brian Jones, a Republican spokesman, said the e-mail messages generated a higher response than anything the party had sent in several months, including bulletins about the Supreme Court confirmations.

"Clearly on our side it is something that is energizing our base a little bit," Mr. Jones said.

I always knew Leftists weren't very good at math...(from NRO)

Since repetitious soundbytes alone won’t do the trick, they (Impeach Bushers) are accompanied by protests with the sort of faux creativity one would expect at a sit-in of math tutors. Even so, members of WCW still apparently lack basic arithmetic skills. Though keen on subtracting Bush from the White House, they are confused about what their formula adds up to:

White House - George W. Bush = President Cheney.

Probably not the answer they were looking for.

Monicar,

Nope. Even when we're polite enough to inform them that they're morons. They disagree in the face of this basic fact of their inherent stupidity.

It's like you can't even reason with them.

Duck,
I will try to get a head count.

Anonymous,
Yes, I teach groups of homeschoolers, who tend not to be Leftists.

Eleanor,
If DVD's are available at the conference, they may also be available on the web.

Beamish,
More pithy sayings from your tome?
