From Daily Kos

On Wednesday, July 12, 2006, an entry entitled "Imagine a world without Israel" appeared at Daily Kos. The following comment appeared late in the thread:
Imagine a world without Radical Islam

Women having rights, no killing women for adultery like in Pakistan.

Kids can watch the world cup without getting slaughtered like in Somalia.

No Taliban rule. What does the Taliban have to do with Israel.

No blowing yourself up for 72 virgins and Allah.

No beheadings, no textbooks in school about suicide bombings.

More tolerance to gays.

No more stoning to death. Less gruesome executions like in Saudi Arabia.

Imagine a world without radical islam terrorism.

We could be focusing on issues like stem cell research, health care, poverty instead of worrying about radical extremists blowing up trains.

Without radical islam no spain, uk, india train bombings.

No bali bombing.

No 9/11.

No governments like Somalia.

Radical Islam is the curse on this world we need to eradicate not Israel.

People like the Iran President that feed hatred about Israel need to go down and Israel needs to rise.
No, I didn't leave the comment.

I don't keep up with the goings-on at Daily Kos, but I believe that particular entry received a lot of criticism. If I recall correctly, one commenter mentioned that substituting the word "Jews" for "Israel" is a call for genocide.

Wordsmith, I thought you were more of a pragmatist than romaticist. I believe there is a song with a chorus that begins, "I can only imagine..."

Wordsmith & Old Soldier,
Or John Lennon's "Imagine"?

Every time I think of that song, I also think of the movie Forrest Gump, with its mild satire of the origins of Lennon's song.

By "it," do you mean the diary entry or the comment?

Reforms in stopping voter fraud has already reduced Democrat power in America. Take out those half million or so folks paying flunkies with crack rocks to vote in their dog's and Mickey Mouse's name and we wouldn't even have Democrat islands in the middle of our donut cities.

Brooke,
I don't troll over at Daily Kos. But if I DID, I'd be likely to write something like I've posted in this blog article.

On the other hand, there's no point in trying to reason with idiots.

No doubt. There are much better ways to spend one's time!

AOW, we're definitely on the same page. I don't try to reason with idiots either.

I'm with Wordsmith here. All "red" suits me just fine! It would be wonderful to run a blog about my pets, or flowers, or rose bushes, or just whatever I felt like, and never have to put out a rant because I'm so pissed off.

My poor husband is in front of the television swearing at the TV set right now. Must I tell you he's watching the news? I didn't think so.

The neat thing is that leftistas are erasing themselves, for the most part, by not having children! hehehe! Those of us who love others(on a practical, real life plane) are having babies! Notice how they have not so subtlely equatting us red staters with commies? Thought we were too stupid to notice!

TMW,
We're getting a bit of a break in the heat wave today. Monday and Tuesday were brutal, with temps pushing the 100 mark. Even the swimming pool provided little relief. And, yesterday, I had some car trouble and had to turn off the AC so as not to kill the battery. Just a few miles without AC almost did me in!

From FBI eyes Hizbollah in US as tensions with Iran rise:

The FBI is trying to ferret out possible Hizbollah agents in the United States amid concerns that rising U.S.-Iranian tensions could trigger attacks on American soil, FBI officials said.

Relations between Washington and Tehran, which soured after the 1979 Islamic revolution, have deteriorated further recently over Iran's nuclear program and its support for Hizbollah, the militant Islamic group whose capture of two Israeli soldiers last week prompted Israel to launch retaliatory strikes in Lebanon.

American law enforcement officials are concerned the Lebanon-based Hizbollah, which has so far focused on fund-raising and other support activities inside the United States, could turn to violence in solidarity with Iran.

"If the situation escalates, will Hizbollah take the gloves off, so to speak, and attack here in the United States, which they've been reluctant to do until now?" said William Kowalski, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI in Detroit.

Detroit is home to one of the largest Muslim communities in the United States.

"Because of the heightened difficulties surrounding U.S.-Iranian relations, the FBI has increased its focus on Hizbollah," said FBI spokesman Paul Bresson in Washington.

"Those investigations relate particularly to the potential presence of Hizbollah members on U.S. soil."

There is no specific or credible intelligence pointing to an imminent U.S. attack by Hizbollah, which the United States considers a terrorist group, Bresson added.

But Iran's Hizbollah -- which claims links to the Lebanese group -- said on Tuesday it stood ready to attack U.S. and Israeli interests worldwide.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told reporters in Toronto that agents were keeping a close eye on Hizbollah, especially "when the international situation heats up."...

And this little gem also appears in the article:

Muslim American groups say that while they support fighting against terrorism, they are concerned the focus is unfairly on them.

From the Washington Times [Thanks, Nanc, for sending me the article]:

All of us in the Free World owe Israel an enormous "thank you" for defending freedom, democracy and security against the Iranian cat's-paw wholly-owned terrorist subsidiaries Hezbollah and Hamas....

When the dust clears the world will applaud Israel for its courage. Sensible freedom-loving people everywhere will realize Israel's furious response in the face of senseless terrorist attacks will have made the world a better place.

In fact, we are all Israelis now.

Ever since Moonbat Pat was in the Nixon administration, he's made 3 hard right turns politically. It would take an essay to explain it, but I call him a crypto-leftist.

Mr. Pres-Elect- Yep, he's been moonbatty for quite a while! Those really hard rights to nowhere get you to the caves where moonbats dwell. It's not a straight line to infinity on either end, but rather a circle, if you keep heading south long enough you end up at the North Pole! Balance is needed, but when you lose your balance...plunk!

These Daily Kossacks (as they were called in a National Review article on their convention) are completely insane! I am rarely there, and usually only see stuff that gets posted on LGF.

On one positive note, the coverage of their convention on C-SPAN was pre-empted by speakers and authors discussing Israel and Hezbollah.

Great post, AOW!

Pim's Ghost,

I didn't see that, but, then again, I rarely have time to watch C-SPAN. Quite a bit of irony there in that pre-emption.

I used to try to navigate through the turgid filth that masqueraded as commentary in Kos and DU. You need to know what the opposition is thinking, right? But in fact it wasn't thinking. No thought at all. What I kept finding was pure, howling, seething, venomous hatred.

This is the extreme of the Leftist world. This is what actually drives the Democrat Party, though the Party leadership would never admit that. But that's where you can see the mirror that Dems need to look into themselves.

On the Right we have our own extremes, and we actually deal with them when they cross the line. But they do not drive the Republican Party (sadly, the so-called 'Moderates' actually drive the Party), and they remain a muffled scream in the blogosphere.

Until we can expose just how much influence the raving Left has on the Democrats, the Dems will remain a viable political party. And they will still have the opportunity to Clinton a presidential election!

Benning,
I rarely go to those sites, as I think I've mentioned.

Not enough attention has been given to that aspect, IMO.

Dems went into Kristalnacht mode in the last election (2004), smashing, burning, and shooting up Republican campaign depots.

They can't help themselves but to escalate further. Starting civil wars is a Dem tradition.

AOW--it was listed on my digital cable menu, I'm pretty sure for C-Span2, which I love for the weekend programming, BookTV. I saw that listed and couldn't wait. I pushed that button and saw, yep, someone intelligent talking about a book about actual warfare. Say it ain't so! I was too edgy and turned it back to the news. But yes, it was rather ironic. Of course the did strike back with the post mentioned in this post.

I see that you've been reading the Washington Post Magazine, which took the same position that you took in your comment.

You are, of course, entitled to your views. And Israel has a right to exist.
