Voted Most Likely To Be A Martyr

According to a November 29, 2005 story on this news channel (all emphases this blog author's):
American Citizen Convicted For Terrorism: Man Conspired To Assassinate The President

"FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- An American citizen whose father worked for the Saudi Embassy is convicted for conspiring with Al Qaida operatives to assassinate President George W. Bush.

Ahmed Abu Ali, of Falls Church, Va., admitted to the crime in a videotaped confession.

"As a boy, Abu Ali attended the Saudi Islamic Academy in Alexandria. He even became a member of the National Honor Society. In his senior year, Ali's classmates voted him 'the most likely to become a martyr.'

"In the video, the 24-year-old said he went to Saudi Arabia in 2002 to study Islam, and met an Al Qaida operative who invited him to join the Jihad against America.

"'I immediately accepted because of my hatred of the U.S., for what I felt was its support of Israel against the Palestinian people,' Abu Ali said on the tape.

"Abu Ali also admitted that he suggested blowing up American warplanes, warships, or targeting hi-ranking U.S. officials.

"He also said it was his Al Qaida contact's idea to kill the president.

"Ali Abu went on to say on the videotape, 'I preferred this idea because it was easier to carry out since the U.S. president often appears in pubic places.'

"The group then plotted exactly how they would carry out the assassination.

"They agreed that they would 'either use at least three snipers who would fire simultaneously to increase the hit probability, or to carry out a martyr operation when the U.S. president goes out to greet the people.'

"During his trial, Ali testified that the Saudis beat the confession out of him. But jurors saw him on tape pretend to cock a rifle and laugh.

"'What was striking was how relaxed he looked, almost carefree...[he] didn't look like someone tortured, pressured into confessing,' said Roger Cressey, an NBC News Terror Analyst.

"Now the little boy voted most likely to become a martyr is facing 20 years to life in prison.

"Abu Ali will be sentenced in February."
Note: As we locals well know, the name of Abu Ali's high school is the Islamic Saudi Academy, not the Saudi Islamic Academy.

If the following information from the Washington Post is accurate, no wonder Ahmed Abu Ali was so willing to conspire with Al-Qaeda:
"The 11th-grade textbook, for example, says one sign of the Day of Judgment will be that Muslims will fight and kill Jews, who will hide behind trees that say: 'Oh Muslim, Oh servant of God, here is a Jew hiding behind me. Come here and kill him.'..

"Some teachers 'focus more on hatred,' said one teenager, who recited by memory the signs of the coming of the Day of Judgment. 'They teach students that whatever is kuffar [non-Muslim], it is okay for you' to hurt or steal from that person..."
In light of the conviction of Ahmed Abu Ali, isn't it time for an extensive investigation of ISA on the part of Homeland Security? The Islamic Saudi Academy published a caption saying "Voted Most Likely to be a Martyr" to appear below Abu Ali's yearbook photo!

A bit of background information on ISA is very interesting. According to "The Madrassa on Main Street: Teaching Fundamentalist Islam on U. S. Route 1,
"A few miles outside of Washington and a stone's throw from Mt. Vernon Plantation - George Washington's home - the Saudi government is teaching Wahhab Islam to hundreds of Muslim-American children. The school, called the Islamic Saudi Academy, is one of an estimated 200-600 in the U.S. that indoctrinate 30,000 students in the teachings of Koran."
And just how did ISA get such a prime piece of property, so close to our nation's capital
"In 1988, 'Dusty' Rhodes, the Fairfax County official in charge of renting school facilities, bragged to a local pastor that the Saudis had not paid the county a dime for the deed to the school. According to Rhodes, the Saudis got the use of the building in exchange for making renovations. Once renovations were complete they were given the deed. At the time, Fairfax County discriminated against churches who used public school facilities by charging them commercial rates, rather than the lower rates charged other community groups. The county was forced to halt the discrimination after a lawsuit.

"In a county where just the tax assessment on a vacant acre can exceed $250,000, the Saudis not only got the building but acres of athletic fields."
Where did Abu Ali acquire his deep hatred of the United States? In Saudi Arabia? Or did his hatred begin with his Wahhabist education at the Islamic Saudi Academy in Fairfax County, Virginia?

Addendum: I sent this story to Jihad Watch, Robert Spencer's site, which graciously printed the story as "American Citizen Convicted For Terrorism."

It is absolutely terryfying.
Educating about the true teachings of Islam is absolutely essential.
I think, in fact I am certain, that most of out leaders and politicians don't have even the tiniest idea about The Holy Qur'an and Hadith and their content.
They just think about them as yet "another religion".

Pretty scary how accurate those students were... I was voted most likely to end up in jail.
After I had read about the "Islamic Saudi Academy" I looked it up on the Internet.

They go to amazing lengths to show that they are a 'mainstream' American school. It's worth taking a look at if you have the time.

Storm,
"Amazing how liberals tell us not to judge a group of people because of the actions of a few ...."
It's the mentality, which makes them liberal.
Moral relativism only applies when when they justify their agenda.
But then if everything is relative how come they are always right (in their own eyes)?

Yes, the lengths are sometimes amazing. Last summer, Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR made a huge deal about how ISA does not have prejudice against Israel. He tried to claim that the only publications which claim that ISA is anti-Semitic are far-right ones. But he ate his words when the interviewer quoted from the Washington Post. I saw the whole interview live, on MSNBC and had a good chuckle over Hooper's obvious discomfort. Come to think of it, I haven't seen as much of him since. Hmmm....

To all who are interested in the topic of ISA,

Ahmed Abu Ali was valedictorian at ISA. My guess is that he learned very well the lessons taught at the school.

ISA has been in a bit of trouble before:

1) The school's controller got nabbed for money-laundering funds to terrorist organizations. I don't have the exact link handy, but information can be found @
www.northernvirginiastan.blogspot.com

2) And from
http://www.washingtonpost.com/
wp-dyn/content/article/2005/04/20/
AR2005042002766_pf.html ,
in April 2005...
In a separate incident in Alexandria yesterday, a private school bus with faulty brakes and bald tires crashed, but none of the 34 students aboard was injured. Police said the driver should not have been behind the wheel. In yesterday's crash of the private school bus, the driver, Abdelrazeg Abdalla, 31, of Falls Church, was charged with several counts, including operating the Islamic Saudi Academy bus on a suspended license.

Investigators said Abdalla's driving privileges had been suspended at 12:01 a.m. yesterday because of insurance-related issues. He was fired by school administrators shortly after the charges -- including citations for reckless driving and driving a vehicle with faulty equipment -- were issued. "They determined that the bus had little or no brakes at all and that the tires were in fact bald," said Alexandria Police Capt. John Crawford, adding that investigators found skid marks to suggest that Abdalla tried to apply the brakes. The bus struck a Honda Civic, causing a chain-reaction crash involving the bus and three cars.

Virginia State Police determined that the bus was unsafe to drive and said it would remain out of service until the problems were repaired.

David Kovilik, director of education for the Fairfax County academy, said the bus was not part of the fleet's normal daily rotation, calling it "a spare." He said that the bus passed its Virginia state inspection in July and that it was subject to daily mechanical checks as well as monthly preventive maintenance. "I looked at the bus [after the crash], and the tire tread was thin, and on one axle the brake was worn down to the metal," Kovilik said. "The other three tires had functioning brakes."

Kovilik said Abdalla was hired as a driver in August after a comprehensive background check that he said included a search for any past convictions and "points on his license." Kovilik said Abdalla's firing was based solely on his driving the school bus without a valid license.

He said he was stunned by news that Abdalla had a court record. "Oh no, no, no!" he said. "I'm going to revisit this."

...[A] check of court records in Virginia revealed seven past charges, including several traffic violations for speeding and crossing a double yellow line. Several of the charges had been dismissed. Abdalla also had a misdemeanor conviction in Fairfax for abducting his estranged wife and 3-month-old daughter at knifepoint. He had originally been charged with felony kidnapping, but friends and family -- including his wife -- wrote letters of support to the court on Abdalla's behalf, and he agreed to plead guilty in May 2003, after nearly three months in jail, to a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault and battery.

After his release, Abdalla was picked up by Department of Homeland Security officials and detained for about six months
, according to court records. It could not be determined why he was detained.

Not much of "a background check" on the part of ISA. Or maybe ISA prefers personnel with shady connections?

Spooky, not surprising, but spooky. These people are no different than your average psycho, except that they all seem to be Muslim...

What I find most disturbing, is that the school actually had a "most likely to become a martyr", and that this didnt raise any red flags before the US authorities caught him.... This goes back to the point of why the onus for cleaning up these guys is on the US/UK, and not on the millions of "peaceful" Muslims out there.

Whenever you speak of the Saudis and their activities and how the the Administration repsonds to it, there is a saying that comes to mind. "Blinder than a blind eye."

A blind man knows there are things around him, in spite of the fact that he cannot see them. By contrast, the Administration sees things, but acts as if they are not there.

Good post(as usual), AOW.

Great post, AOW!

Relationships between western governments and Saudi Arabia are mysterious, to say the least. Yet it doesn't take a mental heavyweight to figure out what's behind it all: money!

In view of the fact that Muslims are notoriously anti-Semitic, that the USA has been a traditional ally of Israel, that the US and UK governments play footsie with the Saudis, that Al-Qaeda hate the cosy relationship between the Saudis and the US, and that Saudi wouldn't exist without US support, and in view of the fact that for this cosy relationship with the Saudis, the US government, and to a lesser but still great extent the UK government, have to turn a blind eye to the inflow of money to our countries to fund the building of mosques and schools and centres of Islamic propagation, is there any wonder that we find ourselves in a fine old mess?

That the President could have a been a target for assassination should not surprise us. As Islam grows here in the West, we shall have a bigger and bigger headache to maintain the sound security of our leaders.

Mark,
Thank you for stopping by.

I am fed up to my eyeteeth with Western governments' coddling of Saudi and of the kid-glove treatment.

Saudi is not a true ally. One day, the oil over there will run out, and Saudi will turn on every Western nation. We're kidding ourselves if we believe otherwise. And Western dollars are helping to fund the Kingdom. Of course, we are not buying any kind of good will.

Saudi funds the vast majority of mosques built since the 1980's. Is it any wonder that Wahhabism abounds in those same mosques? Saudi is the bastion of Wahhabism.

I wonder who is funding that new huge mosque proposed for London?

In view of the fact that Muslims are notoriously anti-Semitic...
At ISA, the world maps don't even show the nation of Israel--or so I've read. I've not been inside, of course.

Is anybody watching ISA? I hope so!

To all interested:

The following came from the NY Post and was written by Paul Sperry (Thank you, Jason, for sending me the article):

November 30, 2005 -- SAUDI Arabia says it's cooperating in the War on Terror, and Washington nods hypnotically in agreement.

But behind the scenes, the kingdom still supports terrorism, making a mockery of the official line.

In a little-noticed Senate hearing earlier this month, Treasury officials and terror experts presented shocking new evidence that makes it clear our Saudi "ally" is playing us for suckers. While it pays lip service to reform, we reward it with major concessions like securing its membership in the WTO and letting more Saudi students attend colleges here.

"Saudi Arabia: Friend or Foe?" - the 40-plus page report introduced as evidence in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing - warns that Riyadh has not stopped exporting anti-U.S., pro-jihad propaganda to our shores. And it's now whipping up young jihadists to cross the border into Iraq and kill our soldiers.

Meanwhile, the same Saudi king who assures Washington he's cracking down on Islamic radicals says publicly that it's not al Qaeda behind terrorism inside his country - it's the Jews.
Details in the report, which includes translations of recent Saudi TV shows, are chilling.

Exhibit A: King Abdullah went on Saudi TV not long ago and said that "Zionist hands" are behind the terror attacks on Western targets inside Saudi. "It became clear to us now that Zionism is behind terrorist actions in the kingdom," he said. "I can say that I am 95 percent sure of that."

Exhibit B: The chief justice of Saudi Arabia's Supreme Judicial Council, Sheik Saleh Al-Luhaidan, has been taped exhorting young Muslims to go to Iraq to wage jihad against U.S. forces. A majority of the "foreign fighters" killed and captured in Iraq are Saudis; this tape is outrageous proof that top Saudis are clandestinely feeding the insurgency.

Exhibit C: Three Saudi charities - the Muslim World League, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth and the International Islamic Relief Organization - linked to al Qaeda remain active in America and around the globe. According to FBI and Treasury agents, all three have functioned as fronts for al Qaeda in the past - yet the Saudis aren't regulating them now, and they continue to spread pro-jihadi propaganda and materials in schools and mosques around the globe, including the United States.

Exhibit D: Abdullah recently appointed Abdullah al-Obeid, the head of the terror-tied Muslim World League, as education minister. So much for promises to reform extremist Saudi curriculum and remove violent references to Jews and Christians from schoolbooks.
Exhibit E: Riyadh is still raising money for the families of Palestinian suicide bombers via its national "Account 98." And the Palestinian terror group Hamas has formally opened offices inside the kingdom.

As the grand Saudi deception continues, we're rewarding the kingdom with looser visa restrictions. Under a new agreement, the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education plans to send 21,000 nationals here over the next four years, essentially reviving the controversial Saudi Visa Express program that was shut down after 9/11.
That new visa deal is a suicide pact. Fifteen of the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi on visas. If just 1 percent of the new crop of Saudi students are radical, that's 210 new potential terrorists inside our borders.

After four years of political pressures, the Islamofascist regime that supplied the 9/11 terrorists remains fundamentally unchanged. Now the Bush administration is offering carrots that could directly compromise U.S. security.

A bill before Congress could end the charade. The Saudi Arabia Accountability Act would require the president to regularly certify Saudi compliance with antiterror reforms. If the regime falls short, it would face a ban on U.S. military exports and curbs on even diplomatic travel here, among other restrictions.

The bill, just re-introduced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, has 13 Senate sponsors; a companion House measure has 47. The American people need to insist that more lawmakers sign on to this important act.

Beak,
Of course a student can be a terrorist! Do you recall the teenager who, right after 9/11 in answer to OBL's call to attack the American economy, flew a private plane into the Bank of America somewhere in Florida? He had OBL literature in the airplane. Blessedly, only his death--the building was vacant.

And Malvo, one of the D.C. snipers, was a teenager, too.

LOL at that mention of Jack Elam. Good one!

At 12/04/2005 5:35 PM, Blogger Always On Watch said...

Seth,
Thank you for that link.

I also noticed this in the 2004 article, which is by Robert Spencer:

If it is inciting hatred for Muslims simply when non-Muslims explore what Islam and the Qur’an actually teach, then there will be a chill on reasonable public discussion of Islam — a public discussion that is crucial to hold in this age of global jihad terrorism. Such laws actually make Muslims a protected class, beyond criticism, precisely at the moment when the Western republics need to examine the implications of having admitted into their countries people with greater allegiance to Islamic law than to the pluralist societies in which they’ve settled.

To criticize is not to incite....

So, here we have it: discussion is required for reform, but discussion is "villifying." Catch-22? Or is it that infidels are not allowed to discuss/criticize? More separatistic rules, IMO.
