Today, If You Vote For A Democrat...

1) You want Nancy Pelosi to be speaker of the House.

2) You want Harry Reid to be Senate Majority Leader.

3) You think its okay for Senators in your party to bash the troops.

4) You love paying high taxes!

5) You want to Cut and Run in Iraq!

6) You don't want drilling in Alaska or anywhere else in the U.S. but you like to whine about how we shouldn't be dependant on the Middle East for our oil.

7) You love activist judges and how they erode our religious freedoms and re-write laws to fit their belief system.

8) You say you're concerned about national security but you're against every plan that has been implemented to prevent future terrorist attacks.

9) You want to sock it to big oil and tax them to death so our gas prices can go up even further even though they already pay an astounding tax rate.

10) You believe in abortion on demand and experimentation on human life.

The New York Post editorial notes: "The woman who will become Speaker of the House, should Democrats pick up sufficient seats on Tuesday, believes passionately that the War on Terror is only the war in Afghanistan." The Post adds a map with all the attacks since 9/11 all over the world. The map was much more striking the in print edition but that full page editorial (unusual for the Post) got to the core about what's wrong with the Democrats. As much as I complain that Bush isn't tough enough and Condi doesn't have a clue, the Dems are brain dead. Where's Truman when you need him?

I'm not surprised that a socialist would fail to understand that the lion's share of profit being made through oil is by the government, on the state and federal taxes which are collected on each gallon!

Much of what the oil companies costs are per gallon go toward research, maintenance, wages, ect... Leaving them with about a four percent profit per gallon.

What the gov't takes away... Pure profit.

If the government wanted to ease the load on the poor working man who has to fuel his vehicle to get back and forth to work everyday, they could repeal the gas taxes (at least temporarily), but hey... Think of those pork projects.

Or, if they wanted to eliminate our energy dependance on foreign oil, they could put in a plan to drill ANWAR while we develop the technology to move to coal to oil and hydrogen power, say, a 10-15 year goal. Hell, I'd even let 'em put funding aside to do a little environmental restoration up there when we finish. That would release this country from the grip of the Middle East and empower us to care for ourselves.

But hey... Think of the tundra and caribou.

Most of the time, for whom I cast my ballot is based on voting for the less abhorrent candidate.

Duck,
I'm not a Democrat (they're too conservative for my liking)

Then you don't have a candidate to vote for?

Brooke,
Our nation's reliance on Middle Eastern oil is causing no end of grief. Neither political party has taken the proper steps to see to it that we get out from under OPEC.

Right now, gasoline prices are down, and the sheeple think that everything is fine. It's not! We're just getting a respite. Now, I admit that I'm grateful for that respite, but the problem with dependence on a foreign source of energy is going to come back to bite us--HARD.

Ducky:

Check the sticker on your gas pump that says exactly how much money of each gallon goes to Fed/State tax. Every pump is supposed to have one.

THAT is all PURE PROFIT for the government. They don't do ANY work to provide the oil, research, provide equipment, pay people to pump it, refine it, bring it to the pump, ect.

They sure as hell can take money on it though, can't they?

At 11/07/2006 3:30 PM, Blogger Brooke said...

Oh, and the oil companies pay taxes before we pay taxes on that gasoline.

Tell me who's raking it in! LOL!

At 11/07/2006 3:35 PM, Blogger Brooke said...

Oh, and here's that proof.

Excerpted:

A multitude of factors can affect an individual oil company's profit on gasoline sales. However, in general, if gasoline is selling at about $3 a gallon, major companies make a profit of about 10 cents a gallon on their U.S. refining and marketing operations based on data gathered by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

At 11/07/2006 3:40 PM, Blogger Brooke said...

Here in Ohio, tax per gallon is at 26 cents per gallon (One of the highest in the Union). Couple that with Federal tax of 18.4 cent p/g, and you wind up with 44.4 cents made per gallon. Compare that with the est. 10 cents per gallon profit of most oil companies, and you can plainly see who's making more money.

Sorry for going on so, AOW!

Ducky, drilling ANWAR wouldn't give us MORE supply, but would REDUCE the amount we spend on foreign oil until we could become energy self-reliant.

I AM NOT SAYING THERE IS A CURRENT SUPPLY PROBLEM. I AM SAYING THAT WE SHOULD STOP BUYING FOREIGN OIL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. WE SHOULD REPLACE SOME FOREIGN SUPPLY WITH OUR OWN OIL.

Besides, pumping and refining more of our own supply would create jobs here for American workers. Wouldn't you agree that's a good thing?

Also, if we move to, say, hydro power and nuclear energy, we could then use our refineries to sell supply to other countries, bringing in more revenue for us.

The Duck proves that Communists have no idea how markets work. Listen up Comwad, this educational announcement is brought to you by reality.

Gas is a comodity and all comodities fluctuate in price due to supply nd demand. Increasing the supply of a commodity reduces the price of the comodity. Thus with more oil on the market there is less room for hurricanes and Commie and Jihadi thugs
to disrupt the market.

Improve our country today send the Duck to GITMO. Ducky waterboarding is in one hour be on time and leave your copies of Fanon and Chomsky in your cell.

"What I am saying is that majors who control the flow of oil from extraction to the pump do not have any profit incentive to increase refining capacity, fund new exploration or do anything to increase supply. They are extracting maximum profits at with the tax paying American sucker footing the bill for security and extortion the majors are doing fine."

'The majors' of course won't increase production when they are profiting well enough as it is. That, Ducky, (coupled with the geopolitical strain in that area of the world) is why we should get self-reliant.

As Beak pointed out, oil is a commodity and the price of what is actually being pumped out of the ground fluctuates in response to demand. That is not extortion. The only way the American taxpayer is being made a sucker is by our own government, who taxes us per gallon after they tax the profit on oil companies.

"The only reason they are hot to drill in Alaska is that a law states that when oil goes over $50 a barrel they don't have to pay royalties."

If you mean the people of the State of Alaska when you say "they", I would submit that in a state with oil, they have a large indignant population that is forced to pay $5 or more per gallon of oil to heat their homes, and it gets pretty darn cold in Alaska. I would think they would love the revenue that drilling would bring, and the jobs it would create.

"Now I know that's a little obscure for you folks who can say "supply and demand" and that constitutes your economics but do some research."

I did. In fact, I even linked to it. You were right about one thing: Your comment was obscure.

You ain't going to find American legislation and case law in Leviticus."

Ducky, once again, I see you aren't reading carefully. I didn't claim that the GOP Congress had gotten a lot done during GWB's presidency. Quite the opposite, and now they'll simply be handing off the baton of uselessness to the Dems, who will cary it faithfully.

Sure, they did a few things at the beginning, such as tax rollbacks, but they got complacent and started acting like Democrats: Hemorrhaging money and doing basically nothing that their base wants. They got spanked and they deserved it... But this has nothing to do with Bush, whom I assume you are referring to when you say "the Dauphin." (Did you hear the speech McCain gave? He must've suddenly remembered he was a Republican. LOL!)

Every other commercial on referred to Bush... When the Dems that turned out figure out that they weren't voting against him, they're going to be upset! LOL!

BTW, Ducky, Bush isn't a NeoCon. He isn't NEARLY hawkish enough to hack that title.

Resulting to ad hominem attacks, Ducky?

You must be getting mad.

For what seems like the hundredth time, Ducky: We wouldn't be increasing supply. We would be REPLACING some of the foreign supply until we could gain independence through alternate fuels.

We have acknowledged that the oil companies don't want to reduce our cost. The price fluctuates on a commodity due to supply, demand, and other factors.

The government is making (in my state, and with Federal taxes) about 44 cents per gallon of pure profit. The oil companies take home about 10 cents of pure profit.

Since the government is clearly making FAR more than the oil companies, why don't they help the working man out by taking LESS, say, about what the oil companies do? Those greedy pigs in suits seem to be doing well enough on 10 cents per gallon... HAHAHAHAHA!

The government always "needs" more money than private industry. Gotta fund those entitlements.

As I see it, the combination of the government and the oil companies has created a new form of oligarchy, which rides on the backs of the consumers of petroleum. Further, our dependence on oil has interfered with the laws of supply and demand.

We are being held hostage at the pumps and elsewhere when it comes to petrolelum. And the larger part of that ransom consists of federal and state taxes on a commoditiy upon which our economy is largely dependent.

Recently, we've seen a market correction with real estate. Do we have that same capability with petroleum? Not at this point.

KuhnKat,
legislating caps on our usage

EEEEEEEEEK! Rationing? Somebody will get the rake-off! I well remember my parents talking about the idiocy of certain rationed commodities during World War II.
