How I wish the MSM could keep us keep that picture in mind as they report the news ...
Jason,
Don't get your hopes up. (I know you won't)
i was speaking today with our company accountant's wife who said their son, a career military man (major) in the army, and he has just been deployed for the fourth time to iraq. he's infantry.
he told her the most disappointing part of this war has not been the war itself, but our media's lack of reporting ALL the good things that are going on there. the schools, the hospitals that have reopened, the women in the workplace and a multitude of other wonderful events. he says it drags the military down.
Nanc,
Have you read Michael Yon? There's a link to his online journal on my right sidebar.
AOW:
Suhweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
Anonymous,
I knew you'd appreciate the visual representations.
yes, i do go to yon's site once in awhile.
perhaps one of these days i'll get to speak personally with this major.
we do go to church with a man who was one of the first dropped into the midst of what was to become "the vietnam war" and i've been longing to pin him down for a talking to.
o.t., but i meant to send you this today (you've probably already seen it and sorry if it's a repost:

which goes to show, barry - you can either hide behind innocence or defend it! bunch of stinking cowards islamic terrorists!
aow - i sent you an e-mail.
There is another version of the same at Joe Gringo's:

AoW- Yep, saw it at GM's site. A picture is worth a thousand words! thisone is deceptively simple, which is a real kicker! Visceral!
Good morning and G*D bless!

Missing Link,
The version for which you left a link is excellent!
Nanc,
About that "cedars" link--Brigitte Gabriel! She was one of the speakers at the Symposium. I posted about her HERE.
Thanks for the link! I should keep up better with Ms. Gabriel's releases.
Former Mossad boss makes Politically Incorrect comments on clash of civilizations:

Fantastic cartoon, AOW!
ARRGGGHHHH! What does it take for the moonbats to figure out that Hezbollah started this? Also, Hexbolla is hiding behind Lebonese civilians, not letting them leave because they are using them as a shield, but why not? After all, they have no problem hiding behind their own women and children!
Do I detect some anti-semitism here in Mr. ducky's comment? I believe I do.
That cartoon is right on target, AOW. It's got Hezbollah figured exactly!
they were also warned ahead of time of impending damages, plucky. would even you stand in front of an oncoming train?
I'm still amazed at how much criticism Israel is getting for civilian deaths. They do their utmost to prevent unnecessary civilian deaths while Hezbollah purposely targets civilians. Where is that criticism?
ducky said..
Lebanon: Two israeli soldiers were kidnapped. Stupid, but it was a military target.
Guess what? So is southern Lebanon were Hezbollah soldiers are quartered.
So true. I love it.
You know, from a completely abstract point of view though, We should understand why this is true. Israel has more manpower, more weapons, better armorment, and better training. In fact, they outclass the Palestinians (and Hezbollah) in ever way.
Whomever is leading the military forces for those groups wouldn't be worth his weight in salt if he didnt use the only advantage his troops have over their enemy. The West's taboo over civilian casualties is the only weakness that there is for these guys to exploit, and from a strictly military point of view, to use this is a very intelligent strategy that at least affords them a measure of opportunity they'd otherwise not have.
That doesnt mean I condone it, but again, if you were out match in ever sense of the word, but still felt you needed to achieve a victory, you use anything at your disposal for a possible advantage. Sun Tzu would be very proud.
g,
I think Sun Tzu would whack these idiots BIG TIME for missing so badly on their intelligence. They completely misjudged what the Israeli and the US response would be. They also missed on the reactions by the rest of the Arab world and the EU also.
Yes, they are using some of Sun Tzu's principles of Assymetric warfare, but, they certainly aren't masters.
Of course, what actually happens in Lebanon is just a prep for Iran's actions later, so, I could also be wrong.
Ducky, your anti-Semitism is verified by your lack of outrage over the thousands of missiles, rockets and homicide bomber attacks launch on Israel by Hezbollah and Hamas. You have no comment about Hezbollah’s charter including the goal of annihilating Israel, yet let Israel become fed up with the incessant attacks and defend itself, and you’re all over the fact that they have used cluster ordinance (was that verified?) in populated areas and intentionally exclude the fact that Israel did issue a two-day advanced warning regarding their intent to destroy certain targets.
You might want to peddle your tripe to a more sympathetic audience.
old soldier said, "...peddle your tripe..." or just make some menudo with it!
Indeed, Ducky is a strong hater of Israel. Only one so blinded by his own views would even suggest that Hezbullah is lobbing "home-made" rockets. Then again, if Ducky considers Syria and Iran "home," that statement suddenly appears rather accurate, doesn't it?
Ducky,
Would you like to add another vapid paragraph, or do you feel you've adequately represented the idiot view?
Here's a picture of the "military" targeting your Hezbollah boyfriends are doing with their random tossing of missiles at Israel's civilian residential areas.
The contrast is clear. Hezbollah is deliberately firing missiles packed with fragmentation warheads at civilian homes in Israel, while Israel is using precision guided munitions upon carefully selected targets.
Israel is just trying to kill Hezbollah.
Hezbollah is just trying to kill Jews.
this is toooooo cool:
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/07/25/D8J37I5O1.html
Ducky,
What hatred are you refering to on the Israeli side? Israel certainly has the firepower to pulverize every structure in Lebanon at will, and under the circumstances of having their civilians specifically attacked and terrorized by missile strikes on residential areas, have shown remarkable, nay, unearthly restraint in their response as compared to what France would do in similar circumstances. Or Russia. Or the United States.
But Hezbollah is just firing away at Israeli residential areas without regard to the war crimes they are commiting with their "targeting" nor regard for the war crimes they are commiting by launching them from civilian areas in southern Lebanon. And make no mistake, the Geneva Conventions are quite clear about the war crimes of Hezbollah, as well as the culpability of Hezbollah for any "civilian" casualties incurred among those that Hezbollah is illegally hiding among.
But you would try to work a compromise out between those attempting to protect their citizens from war criminals and war criminals who merely want to kill people.
So, play negotiator, Ducky. How many Jews should Hezbollah be allowed to kill? How many Iranian missiles should Hezbollah be allowed to keep?
If it were even concievably possible for a leftist to form a coherent argument for Israel to allow terrorists to shell its people without response, do tell me what said argument would sound like.
Otherwise, fuck off, Nazi.
”old soldier, shut up. Don't play the anti-semitism card.”
Insolence now, too. You really are threatened by someone who was willing to defend his beliefs with his life. I guess I should feel sorry for you, but your insolence prevents it. I’m not playing any cards; I’m merely examining the evidence – your anti-Semitic comments. They speak volumes.
”Also your selective outrage is instructive. As i said, the casualties caused by Hezbollah's rockets have been nothing more than the average lunch hour in Baghdad.”
Well, I’m glad you’re receiving some instruction. Now, if it would just take hold… Since July 1st, 25 Israeli civilians have been killed by Hezbollah rockets and another 205 injured. My source. Perhaps you think Israel should just accept that as a way of life, but few reasonable people agree with you.
”Now we know that in the Middle East you consider jewish life to be the only life of value so please take your selective outrage and stuff it where the sun can't find it.”
Stuffing something where the Sun can’t find it may be your forte, but it does not appeal to me, thanks.
”The BBC is reporting the use of cluster ordance in civilian locations. I know the Worldnet and Frontpage haven't carried the accounts but try some other news sources just for variety.”
The BBC, Ducky? Really… the same BBC that brought us the splash about the US using chemical weapons at Fallujah? That BBC? Come on, Ducky, I thought you smarter than that.
There are also accounts of people leaving after leafleting and being hit by aircraft missiles. Of course these are just regrettable errors. The IDF has never been out of line ....”
Kinda like the regrettable errors made by the Palestinian homicide bombers? Oh, that’s right; the Palestinians are actually targeting civilians, aren’t they? So, which ‘perfect’ war is it that you favor?
”…just as the 101st Airborne is clean in Iraq, right Old Soldier? You really are a dinosaur.”
Nice try at goading, Duck, but the 101st does not need my defense. The difference between us, Duck, is that I condemn criminal actions perpetrated by soldiers; but I don’t condemn all 15,000 soldiers in a division for the actions of four or five. The military has a justice system for those who commit crimes whether on the battlefield or in garrison… and no one is executed until after a trial.
As for my being a dinosaur; your kind is closer to extinction than am I; so graze while you’re able.
Let's try the source one more time. In case it fails go to: http://www.thereligionofpeace.com
so, plucky - when was the last time you were in iraq four times? have you seen orangeducks postings at autonomist? do you ever try to see past your bill...er...uh...nose?
GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN IRAQ! sometimes you have to take the bad with the good.
Duck you MORON, the BBC has reported that the Missiles used by the Hizbullah were upgraded to use cluster warheads and exceptionally large numbers of ball bearings in their fragmentation warheads. In other words upgraded to be even more ANTI-PERSONNEL than the originals!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You just keep getting MORE MORONIC!!! Old Soldier getting to you???
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
MR Sucky Ducky continues his ignorant ramblings:
"Not to put to fine a point on it but womens rights have decreased since the invasion and this constnt drone about the schools as if there were no schools in iraq before the invasion is silly."
Now, is this fine point similar to the one on the top of your head which keeps giving you that perforated colon??
I would point out that being forced to wear a Burqa in some areas of Iraq hardly compares to being liable to be draggged off and tortured or murdered at the whim of the ruling class anywhere in the country.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You MORON!!!!
MR Sucky Ducky, MORON par excellence keeps digging his hole:
"Lebanon: Two israeli soldiers were kidnapped. Stupid, but it was a military target...."
You straight out claim that this was a military operation. You are such a MORON that you discard the issue that there are no set RULES that say how BIG a response is allowed to be based on military aggression.
The modern appeasers and Commies have been trying to get STANDARDS set but there is NOTHING in writing that ANYONE has signed onto declaring that, well if they take two of our guys while killing 6 we can blow up 2 of their tanks or take out a missile storage complex or...
You MORON, once a MILITARY Action is launched they can reduce the entire COUNTRY and I hope they damn well DO!!!
I also hope Syria is stupid enough to MILITARILY hit Israel giving them the excuse to REDUCE SYRIA ALSO!!!!
Can you get any STUPIDER MR SUCKY DUCKY??? You can't even support your own position!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
YOU MORON!!!!!!
Keep making the case for us MR SUCKY DUCKY THE MORON!!!
The medical system is so strained in Iraq because your MORONIC BUDDIES bomb anything everything and everyone!!!!
If I was a doctor I would prefer to go someplace safe, like Washington, DC, compared to what your FRIENDS have done to Iraq in their Holy War to stop the US!!!
Of course, you REALLY should talk to OrangeDucks who can tell you first hand how much the US and allies have IMPROVED the STRAINED MEDICAL SYSTEM in Iraq, not to mention the schools and utilities.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You MORON!!!!!!
Oh, and one last thing MR SUCKY DUCKY, Beamish isn't that way so you will need to find someone else to "Bore You Later!!!"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Speaking of war crimes, how is Hezbollah treating its captured Israeli POWs? Anyone from the International Red Cross been able to visit them and monitor their conditions?

Anonymous,
Your laugh is infectious. Kinda like Sinistar's, from the 1980's video game of the same name.
Missing Link,
Esther has indeed posting something very powerful! Thanks for posting the link.
APOLOGIES
I've been tied up most of the day as I battled my HMO for a referral. I'm exhausted! I'll return tomorrow or the next day to read comments more thoroughly.
Mr. Beamish,
laughter is good for the soul and what is good for the soul is good for the body!!
Us middle aged and above need every edge we can get!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It also helps to show what I really think of some of these LEFTISTAS who think they are just so BAD!!!!
In MR John Brown Stain and MR Sucky Ducky cases my guess is that they both fit BOTH the definitions of Chickenhawk!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, I was never a video game player. Don't know what Sinistar sounded like. Know anywhere I could get a listen??
Great find, AOW. Keep up the good work!
you don't really need a listen, anonymous - just keep doing what you're doing...only more!
AoW- When we were in Californistan we were part of an HMO, go with G*D into the fray! Your back, EB's kidney stones, my rheumatoid arthritis, everyone elses sufferings, we are a bunch of old farts! Egads, did I say that? Sorry, the body doesn't keep up with the mind anymore!
Good morning and G*D bless!
tmw
TMW,
I never had any trouble with my back until I was rear-ended by a cabbie. Were I younger, the accident might not have had such disastrous results.
AoW- I don't know, the back is a marvel of design and engineering, but the balance is very precise. Any injury will have it's effects, maybe later down the road, but they do show up! I had an attack of sciatica when I was 26, when I was 36 I had my daughter by c-section, I also had my tubes tied, so they gave me an epidural. Brother, did I get chewed out by the anathesiologist for not telling him of the attack of sciatica! Why? Because it left scar tissue that blocked the effects of the epidural on my tubes! I was feeling every tug and snip, they had to use a general to finish! The point is, it doesn't matter WHEN the injury occurred, it will affect you, sooner or later! The effects may have been delayed, but they would show up!
Sorry, I just learned something that day!
tmw
TMW,
The point is, it doesn't matter WHEN the injury occurred, it will affect you, sooner or later! The effects may have been delayed, but they would show up!
Shortly after the accident, my family attorney told me, "Don't even think about settling for at least a year." I'm so glad that I took his advice! I was thinking about settling in late April; then, on May 5, major "relapse." By the time I finally got the HMO referral to and appointment with the orthopedist, I almost needed a wheelchair! In fact, the ortho's first words when he laid eyes on me were "My God! Something has to be done!" I burst into tears because, at long last, a doctor recognized the suffering I was going through. I think that it was the combination of my position on the examination table and the dark circles under my eyes which had tipped him off.
But God is good. I managed to finish the school year before the worst of the problems reached the critical limit.
Yes, HE is! And continual petioning by friends and family doesn't hurt either! Am I ever glad that the orthopod "saw" what was happening to you! May G*D give you that extra measure of grace for the day!

Anonymous,
And laughter lowers blood pressure, too. When endorphins are released, I feel so much better!
Mr. Beamish said, Anonymous,

Can I get that at my local video-store?
Nanc said, Anonymous, you don't really need a listen, anonymous - just keep doing what you're doing...only more!
Yes! More, more, more!
Duck,
Also Iraq had a good medical system.
Provided Saddam's regime allowed that care. Did the Kurds get a fair shake? I don't recall any medical personnel rushing in after the release of toxins.
Old Soldier,
The Religion of Peace is an invaluable resource. The truth is published there! Now, do any of the talking heads, on the right or the left, consult that source?
As I read the comments I couldn't help remembering Sept. 11, 2001. While I was in the process of accepting that a big hole in the ground had taken the place of two large buildings, I was treated to something else.
Thousands of Palestinians dancing in the streets, tossing candy to passers-by; reveling in the death and destruction in New York. It was, to me, a very revealing picture of what Israel lives with every day. Since that day my sympathies have been with Israel, whatever their faults and mistakes.
To me, this current 'victims' of Israeli 'aggression' were throwing candy 5 years ago. Celebrating the deaths of Americans.
We DO have a dog in this fight.
Duck,
Why not change the Hezbollah figure in the cartoon to a U.N. observation post.
And if the U.N. post was so near to a Hezbollah hide-out, why wasn't the U.N. doing something about it?
They want the U.N. observers out so they can bomb a few more children and they did just that.
I don't buy that, but am not surprised that you do.
Duck,
Why not change the Hezbollah figure in the cartoon to a U.N. observation post.
OR put the U.N. post alongside the baby carriage.
Duck, that is a UN observation post.
And Another Thing,
Thousands of Palestinians dancing in the streets, tossing candy to passers-by; reveling in the death and destruction in New York.
And many of them were educated, not the downtrodden poor.
Duck,
I know that the U.N. observation post has been there for years. All the more reason for them to report on the activities of Hezbollah, particularly if Hezbollah had a hide-out there.
We'll learn soon enough whether or not a Hezbollah outpost was nearby.
Believe the worst about Israel if you like. I won't change your opinion on that matter.
I don't believe that every Lebanese civilian is a participant in the doings of Hezbollah. But we all know that Hezbollah, using Iranian funding, provides various services (food, shelter, etc.) to the Lebanese, so many of the Lebanese are very sympathetic toward Hezbollah, if not outright supporters; this accounts for their voting in Hezbollah to the parliament--voting entitlements, so to speak; this also accounts for why the government of Lebanon doesn't purge Hezbollah from the borders of the country. And, in a recent poll, the vast majority of Lebanese Muslims supported the removal of the nation of Israel; there we see is another motivation for Lebanese civilians to harbor Hezbollah.
Mr. Beamish,
Speaking of war crimes, how is Hezbollah treating its captured Israeli POWs? Anyone from the International Red Cross been able to visit them and monitor their conditions?
No to that last one, as far as I know.
Duck,
I won't argue with your predictions; I don't have a crystal ball. But I submit that the escalation you would have happened (and has already happened) anyway had Israel continued to allow Hezbollah and Hamas to work their mayhem.
I agree with Storm:
Islamic terrorism is on the rise in Indonesia, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan etc....We are in a worldwide battle and we all had better snap out of this bickering nonsense.
That escalation which Storm just mentioned preceded Israel's latest actions. Check the calendar.
Storm,
Welcome back! Good to see you here.
Storm,
You were at Middletown? My in-laws occasionally journey from California to Virginia to participate in the Bull Run re-enactment! The last time they participated in the Bull Run re-enactment was when it was held in Leesburg, VA. They didn't come this year, however, because they'll be visiting in September for a family wedding in upstate NY. My mother-in-law is 86 and has Alzheimer's, so these trips aren't easy for her, nor are her visits easy for us when she starts her sundowning forays all over the house.
One year quite a while ago, they came here for the Gettysburg re-enactment, and we drove up to PA to a farm where the event was being held. My husband and I attended, all decked out in costume. My mother-in-law used to be a seamstress, so she has many outfits for me to choose from.
Glad to hear that the weather was decent. It can be brutally hot in this area during July and August.
PS: Glad you liked the graphic in thsi posting!
Actually MR SUCKY Ducky,
you are wrong again. Several outlets have reported HUGE blasts in Beirut.
As far as Adminstrative, recruiting, propaganda, community outreach, banking, CCC... offices, how many missiles and explosives do you think there will be???
http://www.ndtv.com/template/template.asp?template=Lebanonconflict&slug=Beirut+hit+by+explosions&id=90517&callid=1
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You MORON!!!!
"And if the U.N. post was so near to a Hezbollah hide-out, why wasn't the U.N. doing something about it?"
Amen, AOW!
If Israel used its air force to full capacity, Hezbollah would be a thing of the past... As it is, they are trying to prevent as many civilian deaths as possible, something the left dumps upon their heads.
Also, hitting civilians is difficult to avoid when so many Hezbollah hide out in their midst.
I just don't understand why this is so difficult for the left to wrap their tiny heads around.
AOW,
Sinistar is not just a classic video game. It is also the protagonist behind the philosophy of Sinistarism.
You may join the cult here.
kev,
clearly and succinctly put.
Hope the MORONS can understand it!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
AOW,
Have a look at this when you find 2 minutes:
http://democracyfrontline.org/blog/?p=908
Not that it matters to those who refuse to think for themselves, but dear old Kofi could have issued an order for the UN peace keepers (?) to vacate their posts, but remained silent instead. After all, his outrage would be weightless without a few of his "soldiers” deaths. Indeed, why was a UN post taken out? Could it be that the UN flag and Hezbollah flags flew over the same post? Does anyone else think collusion or perhaps the Stockholm syndrome set in on the UN peace keepers (?). It’s for sure they were not keeping Hezbollah cleared out of the area.
Missing Link,
I just looked at that link you left. The U.N. flag and the Hezbollah flag, flying practically side by side?
Unbelievable. Um, on second thought, maybe not.
Nanc,
From that link you left (AP):
Hezbollah had expected "the usual, limited response" from Israel to the July 12 cross-border raid, in which three Israelis were killed.
In the past, he said, Israeli responses to Hezbollah actions included sending commandos into Lebanon to seize Hezbollah officials or briefly targeting specific Hezbollah strongholds.
May the surprise give Israel the victory!
Kev,
hezbollah, hamas, and the rest of the anti-Israeli, anti-Jewish terrorists have been killing Israeli civilians, including men, women and children, even their OWN CHILDREN (on purpose, even), for years, in bloody acts of terror.
The left acts as if the problem will got away if ostriching is employed. Hasn't happened, won't happen. And thinking so is fatal folly.
The schoolyard bully doesn't stop until someone makes him stop!
Mr. Beamish,
Sinistar is not just a classic video game. It is also the protagonist behind the philosophy of Sinistarism.
Having read up a bit on Sinistar, I'm guessing that you like the game.
Old Soldier,
As far as terrorists are concerned, attempts at negotiation are a sign of weakness. And that further fuels theri mania.
Typo! theri = their
AOW,
Yes. Sinistar devoured much of my allowance in 1982.
Mr. BTIP,
Possibly some Sinistar sounds uploaded for play at your sight??
Anonymous,
What I'd like to have playing at my site is the song "Islam's Not for Me." You can listen to it by clicking on "Sing-along" on my right sidebar.
Mr. Beamish,
PacMan devoured a bit of my money. So did Donkey Kong Junior, Centipede, and Space Invaders.
Anonymous,
HERE is that little ditty.
Anonymous,
Currently the background music at my blog is "Woodpecker from Mars" by Faith No More. I like the crash of Middle Eastern strings vs. funk metal guitar. It's like a holy war of music.
Sinistar samples would be cool. I think there's an old DJ Shadow trance techno song that sampled Sinistar.
AOW,
Enjoy these arcade flashbacks.
Didn't say where he got the picture? Hmm...
By the way, I failed to link the post. This system is difficult to understand.
I show the link. I mention the source!
http://newglobal-america.blogspot.com/2006/07/real-victim-by-hezbollahs-attack.html
Shah,
This system is difficult to understand.
I know! I wasted a lot of time trying and never had success.
As to the source of the drawing here, I've read that we don't know exactly who the artist was.
Hey, I see you have an avatar! :)
Shah,
GM Roper got the picture from Dr. Sanity (a blog). I followed a few links and found out that nobody seems to know whom to credit for the drawing.
Storm,
I watched the so called news last night (CBS???). I know why bother but I wanted some news. Instead I got proganda every story was the same look at this problem and then here come the Demos to save the day. I think I even heard the Mighty Mouse theme song in the background.
Mighty Mouse: "Here I come, to save the day..." Yeah, right!
I missed network news last night because we were out to dinner. Just as well; we had better company at dinner and a fantastic meal. Besides, every time I watch the news, I start screaming, "Liar!" or "That's a lie!" at the TV set.
AoW- That's alright, I lecture mine!
tmw
TMW,
I used to lecture. Now I scream.
AOW & TMW;
one of the reasons I don't watch much news anymore. I don't want my roomate to call the ambulance while I am screaming at the newsreaders!!!
The hospital would probably have a SWAT team precede them in when they heard me in the background!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Anonymous,
When my cousin (God rest his soul!) used to live with us many years ago, he screamed like a madman every time the Dallas Cowboys had a televised game. He lived on the second floor, and our living-room light fixture swayed to my cousin's stomps on the floor; those stomps were always followed by particular expletives if Dallas made a bad play.
Therefore, I fully understand what you said:
The hospital would probably have a SWAT team precede them in when they heard me in the background!!
If there were a swayable light fixture in my basement, it would be swinging like mad from my stomps on the floor these days.
More on Hezbollah using human shields:
The words of a Canadian United Nations observer written just days before he was killed in an Israeli bombing of a UN post in Lebanon are evidence Hezbollah was using the post as a "shield" to fire rockets into Israel, says a former UN commander in Bosnia.
Those words, written in an e-mail dated just nine days ago, offer a possible explanation as to why the post -- which according to UN officials was clearly marked and known to Israeli forces -- was hit by Israel on Tuesday night, said retired Maj.-Gen. Lewis MacKenzie yesterday.
The strike hit the UN observation post in the southern Lebanese village of El Khiam, killing Canadian Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener and three others serving as unarmed UN military observers in the area.
Just last week, Maj. Hess-von Kruedener wrote an e-mail about his experiences after nine months in the area, words Maj.-Gen. MacKenzie said are an obvious allusion to Hezbollah tactics....
Read it all!
I rarely, if ever watch news on television, but I had it on NBC News at dinnertime. Brian Williams had just finished a viewer mail segment where he answered complaints about coverage and lack of coverage on the war in Iraq with something like "The world is a big place to cover and there is only so much we can put in a 30 minute timeslot." He then preceded to spend the last 10 minutes of the broadcast with a puff piece on the HeadOn (Apply Directly To the Forehead!) headache medication advertisement. Without even a hint of irony in his teleprompter.
"preceded" = proceeded
(it's bedtime thirty)
Mr. Beamish,
He then prceded to spend the last 10 minutes of the broadcast with a puff piece on the HeadOn (Apply Directly To the Forehead!) headache medication advertisement. Without even a hint of irony in his teleprompter.
I saw that! I watch our local news on the NBC channel and hadn't switched over FNC as I usually do at 7:00. I won't type in here what I screamed at the TV--students might be reading what I'm writing. LOL.
AOW,
Keep in mind that the "viewer mail" segment also cut around 5 minutes out of Brian Williams "30 minutes to cover the world."
Mr. Beamish,
Keep in mind that the "viewer mail" segment also cut around 5 minutes out of Brian Williams "30 minutes to cover the world."
Ostriching?
5 minutes for the viewer mail segment, 10 minutes for the HeadOn (Apply Directly To The Forehead!) puff piece, 7 minutes divided into commercial breaks every 10 minutes, with six 1 minute bumpers before and after each commercial break to announce what story is coming after the commercials. (The HeadOn story was touted beofre and after every commercial break)
5 + 10 + 7 + 6 = 28 minutes of non-news in a 30 minute news broadcast.
NBC News sucks, and the sad thing is, THEY'RE NOT THE WORST!
Meh! Humor can be overrated. Keep doing what you do.
