There's been a major acceleration since OBL's marching orders given last March or April. Walid Phares covered that topic at the pre-Symposium presentation.
AQ is Africa was the topic in portions of today's WaPo. Dr. Phares mentioned Africa and Latin America as the next two "fronts" for various terrorist ideologies.
Today, Chavez of Venezuela made a deal with Ahmadinejad. I don't have the details, but I wonder about funding for Hezbollah.

Beirut, 25 July (AKI) - Israel has made a major inroad into Hezbollah controlled territory with the capture of the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jebeil. The settlement, which has a population of some 45,000, is the capital of the Arus al-Jalil (The Bride of Galilee) province and is where the main motorway leading to city of Tyre intersects with the road that flanks Lebanon’s “Blue Line” border with Israel. It is considered a stronghold of Hezbollah.
A curious fact about Bint Jebiel is that more than half or its nominal residents, or some 28,000, have US citizenship, a legacy of the migration of many people from the area in the 1950s to places like Detroit. Many of these and their descendants every year come to spend their summer holidays in Bint Jebiel.
Of the thousands of American citizens evacuated from Lebanon in recent days, many come from Bint Jebeil.
It seems unlikely that Hezbollah will be able to regain control of the town in the short term as Israeli troops have begun to cut-off some of the communincation lines with other locations such as the east-west road running from the coastal towns of Naqura and Aytarun. The only route open to Hezbollah militants would be to launch an attack from the north along the road linking the town to Tibninki.

Nanc- My daughter puts on a really outrageous performance, just for the laughs! She counts "coupe" everytime she gets me howling. Now that's a good venue for a drama queen!
I saw that, how long will it take before the msm "gets" it? It's hate, pure and simple! But I can see it now, excuses, excuses and more excuses! Some how it will be Israel or the victims at fault! My heart goes out to those families affected!

The new movie Obsession is going to take on that issue. I just ordered the DVD. Obsession The Movie. This film targets Salafism and includes some of the same film footage as Islam: What the West Needs to Know, though the latter says that Islam itself is the problem. Obsession takes a slightly different and less offensive tack. That's okay. Get rid of the Salafists first!

Reminds me of a story....My husband used to work with a fellow who had an artificial leg. When this fellow got loaded (or whenever his wife was angry with him), his wife would take away his prothesis. Grounded him, so to speak. One time, he must have been particularly loaded, and she beaned him with it. He wasn't hurt, but he DID shut up.
Another "handy" use for prosthesis! snort Kinda like an iron skillet or rolling pin for maintaining the "lines of respect"!
