I've been listening to talk radio and watching the TV interviews on this movie. I think it must be a wonderful thing, but will it ever get play in major theatres? I doubt it. I'm going to check into ordering it also. Thanks

Missing Link,
Has the film been advertised in Oz?

Beak,
When I went to see Islam: What the West Needs to Know, there were no surprises, and I think there will be no surprises in Obsession. But seeing a movie can have an impact different from reading the same material. In addition, the footage of imams "rallying" their followers is so like what Hitler did that it's downright shocking to see on the screen.

Mr. Beamish,
I know you will. Hehehe.

Cool! They weren't doing pre-sale when I blogged about this. Thanks, AOW!

The "sermons," which actually do look identical to Nazi rallies are frightening to see... The imagination just doesn't do it justice. It makes me wonder how someone can see it, and not be moved to stop it right now, before it gets any worse.

AOW, thanks for the comment over at OS alerting me to 'Obsession' being available online. I just finished watching it. A very powerful film. Anyone who views the film and denies there is a significant danger associated with radical Islam targeting Israel, the UK, and the USA is either ignorant or a radical Muslim.

AOW: I see more of those Hitler parallels every day. I have been reading quite a bit of Churchill the last few months and it just strikes me that the same thing is happening again.

Neville Chamberlain is alive in spirit!

He thought that if we only showed we were no threat to the Nazis that they would leave us alone. So he vetoed the defensive measures which might have deterred war, or the relatively painless efforts to stop Hitler once his intentions were clear.

I put the video up on my page with more links to YOU TUBE resources. Not sure how well the Google video works, so if anyone comes by and it doesn't play, please let me know.

Mr. Beamish,
The movie makes the matter crystal clear, huh?

My husband doesn't much like watching movies on the computer monitor, but he DID watch some of the portions with those imams screaming like Hitler. I won't type in here what he said--family site (sort of).

And I agreed--and still agree. BUT that footage of the imams is so powerful. As I mentioned before, video footage can have a different impact.

Did you notice they didn't show all the footage of the beheading of Berg? I know, I know. That footage is nauseating. But I can make the case for showing it. I admit that the first time I tried to watch that footage of Berg's beheading, that I couldn't make it all the way through.

Beak,
Thank you for that excellent comment--every word of it.

I've seen you mention this before at your blog:

It took the Duck two whole days to name the culprits of 9-11 on FPM.
He also has done backflips to avoid saying a word about Beslan.
Was there any chance that was an accident as well or was this Islamo
Nazis shooting naked school kids in the back on purpose.

Beslan is one of those "inconvenient facts." We read about "Chechen rebels," but shooting kids in the back on the first day at school? Every family is Beslan suffered some kind of loss or suffered untold terror.

AOW: That song's an oldie, but goodie and it sure fits.

We lost 400,000 plus lives in World War II but were spared the horror which scarred Europe and Asia, taking up to 60 million lives.

But we've lost the geographic advantage that kept war away from the American mainland. It would be so easy to smuggle in small nuclear devices or biological agents that would take the lives of millions of Americans. And very difficult to trace the source.

In the 1930's Winston Churchill warned again and again and again that the danger was growing. He did so at a time when the Nazi threat could have been neutered and war averted.

We're in a similar period now. And as usual there are those who find the thought of war so painful that they will fail to take the steps necessary to prevent it.

Churchill was a right-wing conservative, warning of the Nazi threat early on, from the start. As early as 1931.

Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Roosevelt, Chamberlain... all leftists doing their naive kumbayah singing and save-the-world goosestep marching best to ensure at the end of the day millions of people are dead.

Had there been more right-wingers in charge of the nations Hitler tried to spread his brand of leftism to, there would have been no World War 2.

From the July 30, 2006 WaPo's "The Secretive Fight Against Bioterror":

On the grounds of a military base an hour's drive from the capital, the Bush administration is building a massive biodefense laboratory unlike any seen since biological weapons were banned 34 years ago.

The heart of the lab is a cluster of sealed chambers built to contain the world's deadliest bacteria and viruses. There, scientists will spend their days simulating the unthinkable: bioterrorism attacks in the form of lethal anthrax spores rendered as wispy powders that can drift for miles on a summer breeze, or common viruses turned into deadly superbugs that ordinary drugs and vaccines cannot stop....

Research at NBACC is already underway...

At present and as far as we know, dispersement of biological agents is difficult. But that difficulty may already have been overcome--or shortly to be overcome.

The Demon in the Freezer presents an equally frightening scenario about engineered microbes. Ken Alibek so warned Congress before 9/11, but wasn't paid much mind until after 9/11. Scarier than anything Stephen King has ever written!

From today's (July 31, 2006) WaPo article "Custom-Built Pathogens Raise Bioterror Fears":

Eckard Wimmer knows of a shortcut terrorists could someday use to get their hands on the lethal viruses that cause Ebola and smallpox. He knows it exceptionally well, because he discovered it himself.

In 2002, the German-born molecular geneticist startled the scientific world by creating the first live, fully artificial virus in the lab. It was a variation of the bug that causes polio, yet different from any virus known to nature. And Wimmer built it from scratch.

The virus was made wholly from nonliving parts, using equipment and chemicals on hand in Wimmer's small laboratory at the State University of New York here on Long Island. The most crucial part, the genetic code, was picked up for free on the Internet. Hundreds of tiny bits of viral DNA were purchased online, with final assembly in the lab.

Wimmer intended to sound a warning, to show that science had crossed a threshold into an era in which genetically altered and made-from-scratch germ weapons were feasible. But in the four years since, other scientists have made advances faster than Wimmer imagined possible. Government officials, and scientists such as Wimmer, are only beginning to grasp the implications.

"The future," he said, "has already come."

Five years ago, deadly anthrax attacks forced Americans to confront the suddenly real prospect of bioterrorism. Since then the Bush administration has poured billions of dollars into building a defensive wall of drugs, vaccines and special sensors that can detect dangerous pathogens. But already, technology is hurtling past it. While government scientists press their search for new drugs for old foes such as classic anthrax, a revolution in biology has ushered in an age of engineered microbes and novel ways to make them....

Note that the above in not from a freeper publication. The two above stories were the feature stories on the front page of the WaPo.

"If it's so easy ... why hasn't it been done? (Hint: It's difficult)."

I would point out that three 4th rate countries now have nuclear weapons (Pakistan, Korea, and France[snicker]).

The anthrax that killed people after 9/11 was highly developed and milled. There were reports that the US hadn't created quite that level of dispersable agent. It was finer to remain air borne, did not clump, and was quite deadly. Perfect for dispersal and large numbers of fatalities with large numbers of sick and disabled.

Basically Che Sucky it HAS been done. Fortunately for us the particular MORONS we were dealing with either hadn't created a large enough supply or weren't ready for large scale retaliation on all extremists worldwide or {you pick the reason}!!!

aow - great article at human events regarding why "arab armies are always defeated":

At 8/01/2006 10:46 AM, Blogger Always On Watch said...

Nanc,
Thanks for that link. Excerpt therefrom:

Arabs look to conform, rather than innovate, like their Western counterparts. Also, Arabs avoid head-to-head competition, not to the risk the humiliation of higher-ranking officers or members from a higher social class. Instructors must know that before they pose a question, pupils must first know the answer. If not, humiliation ensures. This is followed by paranoia, believing that he was set up. Soon the classroom setting turns from nurturing into confrontational.

Communication and decision-making is limited to a small number of individuals at a high level of authority. Information is not distributed from the top on down. And once a decision is made, it cannot be altered in any way. Even officers lack authority to make a decision and are reluctant to distinguish themselves....

A glaring difference between Israel and its current combatants is the treatment of the enlisted men. For Israeli men, military service is a point of pride and executed with full effort. In Egypt, the young see the service as a burden. Syrians look for dispensation for service....

Arab officers fail to lead by example because they are tied to notion of societal prestige. Rather than leading by example, officers prefer to “save face” in front of enlisted men. For example, during the first Gulf war when a sandstorm blew over Iraqi officer prisoner tents, the officers remained in the harsh conditions rather than being “observed by enlisted prisoners in a nearby camp working with their hands.” If officers and the enlisted distrust each other, it will manifest itself during training and on the battlefield.

The Middle East hangs in the balance, as Israeli and Arab armies face off. But Arab armies must fight their cultural limitation along with their determined Israeli foe. When they meet their defeat at the hands of Israel, Arabs will continue to blame weapons and money for their loses, rather than looking at their own failures....

The Arab concepts of honor and humiliation are not understood by many Westerners. And those concepts are deeply ingrained in Arab culture--not just manifest in military strategy.

As you pointed out, before 9/11 nobody here in the United States ever dreamed of passenger planes as weapons. The plot of the 9/11 hijackers was simple, really. And it worked.

Americans tend to be an optimistic lot. This is a flaw when it leads to ostriching. An ostrich when its head is in the sand is an extremely vulnerable target.

Look, watch, study, learn, and live - or die if you refuse to learn. This is a clash of civilizations, and we are in the middle of it.

People, this is some very scary stuff. If we don’t wake up and realize our very civilization and lives are at stake here, we are destined to vanish from the face of this planet. Don’t believe me?

Keep defending Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, and Hamas, and see how long you live if you refuse to stand up against the Islamofascists. This is the most serious threat of our modern times. If you don’t believe it, then you are just blind, deaf and dumb.

Thank you to Honest Reporting for making these videos.

I watched Obsession (via Google Video) last night on Baron's recommendation over at Gates of Vienna. I'm still absorbing it. I'll repeat here the comments I made over at his blog.

Some of the images and rhetoric are so stunning, it's almost beyond comprehension. The Islamofascist death cult is pure evil.

One of the quotes that stuck out to me was a Hamas-type talking about how they had raised up an "ideological generation" and that their children "loved death as much as their enemies love life". The sick and reprehensible nature of something like that is just bewildering. I believe their indoctrination far exceeds that of the Nazis.

Sadly, I don't know of an American network that would have the courage to broadcast a documentary like this. But, we are indeed involved in much wider war than many realize. God help us.

Yes, the movie is a stunner. I already knew the concepts presented, but SEEING those concepts portrayed on the screen have a powerful effect. As you mentioned, one viewing is not enough to absorb all the significance of this film.

Yes, God help us!

Anyone want a copy when I get them?

I'm might be restating this, but Laura Ingram had the director on her show yesterday... she gave the movie big props.

I'd say that, most probably, its the same as the online version unless it contains material that none of us have seen.

AOW told me that the regular release is one hour long.

G,
I heard Laura's program yesterday. She covers a lot of good material that you don't hear antwhere in the MSM.

Is the sidebar back in place for everyone? Please speak up if it isn't. I don't usually use Windows or MS Internet Explorer so when the blog is screwed up for you Windows guys it doesn't always show up on the system I use.

Farmer,
Long time! Glad to see you here.

From that link you left:

Hotels at an Italian seaside resort are eager to act on the town's decision to authorize the creation of all-female beach sections for Muslim women, with at least one hotel owner saying Friday that plans are already under way to open the first of such secluded areas next month.

How boring! At least from my perspective.

I can't imagine this idea catching on in the United States.

I wonder if the muslimas will wear their total-cover-up swim gear? And the lifeguards would also have to be women.

I just saw Walid Shoebat on TV and in the 5 minutes he spoke I was blown away. What a powerful speaker that gets to the truth and pounds in the lesson without any sugarcoating. I know you mentioned him before and now I see what you were talking about.

Jason,
I saw it! Mr. Shoebat was speaking very fast in order to get more information onto the air waves.

I wish that he'd be on for a full hour!

Yes, he was talking fast but he was getting out the best points. I hope he piqued many people’s interest. His credentials are impeccable. He was there; he knows the movement; and he’s changed. It is good, given the short amount of time, that he didn’t approach the problem from his religious conversion but from his experience and study. The fact that he was open minded and the details of his personal journey are inspiring, too, but that needs the whole hour. He stayed focused even as he showed how much he has to say.

You’re right, he overwhelmed Combs but he didn’t get pulled into Combs’ ploy to turn cultural criticism into a battle plan.

Shoebat, like David Horowitz, impress me because they were on the wrong side and now they want to make amends. That’s the ultimate in moral responsibility. It’s hard to do and it’s a constant reminder that you did harm in the past. But it’s the only thing you can do given that the past can’t be undone.

Jason,
I think Mr. Shoebat might have been talking so fast because he didn't get all his points across on last week's O'Reilly Factor. But he did manage to get in a zinger at the end last week: about holy war declared by jihadists and how the West refuses to recognize that reality of that holy war.

It is good, given the short amount of time, that he didn’t approach the problem from his religious conversion but from his experience and study.

He knows how to balance what he says. At the Symposium, he began by saying, with his penetrating and sparkling eyes, "I was born in Bethlehem of Judea. No, I'm not the one." Laughter all around. The rest of his talk was secular oriented, even though he is an evangelical. I've got to write up my notes from his portion at the Symposium.

Mr. Shoebat often appears at churches and gives his Christian testimony. I know that you're not a Christian, Jason, but the man's message transcendes the Christian faith. Furthermore, in person, Mr. Shoebat has charisma and is so likeable. My best friend in Texas (She's not an evangelical) says, "He's the best I've ever seen [for explaining what the West is facing]!"

I like your comparison with Horowitz. Making amends and all that, as both of those individuals term in.

Obsession beats Hitchcock and Stephen King anyday. who would have thought that real horror would be worse than any fiction?

Skylark,
I used to read a lot of Stephen King. But I don't find his writing very scarey now. In fact, King himself has acknowledged that he's having trouble writing anything scarier than the world since 9/11.

I did watch it, and have spread it around, through e-mail. It is definitely having an impact on people who bother to watch it.

Froken Sverige,
A few days ago, the links worked. The video keeps getting pulled off Google.

Last time I checked, the link to "Relentless" worked. That article is a few items down here.

Wordsmith,
Yes, the entire world is being held hostage. So, how does one put a stop to it? Certainly, fear and appeasement (aka political correctness) only feed the maniacs' mayhem. The West doesn't seem to understand about appeasement. We are reliving the 1930s.
